Our Commitment

The ECOM Foundation is committed to long-term sustainability that will provide a permanent change in producing communities.

We ensure this change by working together with local nongovernment organizations, other public charities, corporations, and local and national governments.

Our donations to projects are geared towards education, healthcare, and other special projects.

Education

EDUCATE! Program in Uganda
Since 2011, we have partnered with EDUCATE! to provide schooling for young women and girls across Africa, equipping them with the skills to secure employment, build sustainable livelihoods, and thrive in today’s economy. With this program's direct-to-school model, we support 800 schools, 32,000 children and youth, and 300 mentors across East Africa.

Promoting Quality Education Program in Kenya
In 2025, we partnered with Terre des Hommes to promote quality education and advocate for children's rights to reduce child labour in coffee-producing sub-counties of Kiambu County in Kenya. These 10 public schools support 1,250 children and 180 teachers.

Costa Foundation Nursery Schools in Vietnam
Since 2018, we have partnered with the Costa Foundation to build and upgrade nursery schools in key coffee-growing communities across Vietnam. These projects have created safe, modern, and fully-equipped learning environments, improving access to quality early education for over 1,000 children of coffee-farming families.

ECOM Foundation Satellite Schools
Since 2011, we have created and supported eight Satellite Schools in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua in partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey. These schools provide online learning for children and youth, as well as training for smallholder farmers.

Health

Grounds for Health Screen & Treat Program
Since 2006, we have partnered with Grounds for Health in a program pioneered by the Gates Foundation to expand cervical cancer prevention programs in coffee-growing communities across Mexico, Nicaragua, and Tanzania. Our support has helped establish community-managed healthcare systems, provide essential medical equipment and training, and integrate cervical cancer prevention into national health protocols. To date, the program has reached tens of thousands of women, improving long-term health outcomes and strengthening rural coffee-growing communities.

BasicNeeds – Community Mental Health Services
Since 2011, we have partnered with BasicNeeds to promote community-based mental health support for smallholder coffee farmers and their families in Bungoma County, Kenya. The program trains Community Health Workers and family caregivers to identify, treat, and support individuals living with mental disorders and epilepsy through local outreach clinics and home-based care. By reaching over 600 patients across 50 villages, the initiative reduces stigma, enhances access to diagnosis and rehabilitation, and promotes social inclusion and recovery.
